What is Moebius Syndrome?
Moebius Syndrome is an extremely rare condition that affects the sixth and seventh cranial nerves. It affects 1 in 4 million. A person with Moebius has facial paralysis and is not able to move their eyes side to side. Most people born with Moebius can not close their eyes or form facial expressions due to the lack of facial nerves. They can not smile, suck, blow, wink, squint, or blink and typically have difficulty with eating and speaking. Unfortunately, Moebius condition is permanent.
